Current prices are listed after each trip description. New this year is a Halibut Stamp when fishing for halibut (like the King Salmon Stamp). When you are ready to book, head over to our reservation page. Please note that all our trips include your transportation if needed. Cruise ship passengers: we can pick you up at your ship. If you would like to visit the Mendenhall Glacier, Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, or Alaskan Brewing Company, after your trip, we can help you to arrange that. Please check our FAQ page for more information on these side trips, especially Mendenhall Glacier as USFS has changed some of their regulations. Please reserve early this is looking to be a busy season.

5-star vessels for wildlife viewing and fishing.

All of our vessels are 31-foot cabin cruisers designed to comfortably take up to six passengers*, captain and a crew member. Each has large windows and a fly bridge for maximum viewing of our wildlife. All come equipped with electric downriggers for Salmon fishing. They are gas powered (no diesel fumes) with twin 350s (Bucc has 406s) and dual props. All come equipped with electric downriggers for Salmon fishing, have heated cabins, self-contained flush toilets, and state of the art electronics, including HD color depth sounder/fishfinders, GPS mapping systems and Hydrophones (for listening to the whales). Each vessel has been inspected by the USCG and all have earned the top awards for safety.

*We can handle groups of up to 18 with three vessels or even larger groups with other excellent associated charter boats.

Meet the new owners of Rum Runner Charters! Captains Luke and Adrianne have been part of the Rum Runner family for several years now. Both are avid outdoorsmen and have consistently caught some of the biggest fish landed in our area on their excursions. In the off-season, they can be found in roughest wilderness seeking big game. Their passion for chartering was quickly noticed by Captain Chris, and he has since entrusted them keeping the business alive and well for many more years to come!

Chris has been in or on the water for most of his life. He came to Alaska straight out of high school back in '75 and earned his way through the University working the commercial fishing and diving boats in the Gulf of Alaska. Captain Chris has worked, dove, and done research from the Arctic Ice Pack to the fjords of Southeast Alaska. With Chris's education in Marine Biology, he has a unique insight to the fish and wildlife that abounds around the Juneau area. He settled in Juneau in '85 and started Rum Runner Charters in '93. Since then, Rum Runner Charters has grown into one of the busiest and most requested charters in Southeast Alaska.

Captain Luke joined the crew when he was only 15 years old. Born and raised in Juneau, he has been on the water for much of his life. When he’s not fishing or whale watching for us, he’s out adventuring on his 16’ skiff with his old black lab. Initially a shy, quiet deckhand who just loved to be outside, he has since grown into a confident, outgoing Captain.

Troy is a veteran who has sailed and piloted both up and down the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. He is intimately familiar with Southeast Alaska and the Inside Passage, and has years of charter fishing experience. There is never a dull moment on a charter with Captain Troy!

All private whale watching tours depart directly from Auke Bay harbor in Juneau. Trips are fully private for your party only, guaranteeing uncrowded viewing and personalized route selection according to current wildlife activity.
